Steve’s Kenai Faux Stone Foundation Skirting

Steve Legros upgraded his porch with Kenai faux stone foundation skirting using GenStone panels. By replacing the exposed lattice with stacked stone, the entire structure feels more finished and grounded. The natural gray tones of Kenai complement the white railing and brown siding, creating a cohesive transition between the home and the surrounding landscape.

Foundation skirting plays a big role in how complete a porch or deck feels. In this project, wrapping the base in stone eliminates the visual gap beneath the structure and adds weight where it’s needed most. The layered stone texture introduces depth and contrast against the clean lines of the railing, helping the porch feel more like a permanent extension of the home rather than an add-on.

GenStone’s lightweight panels made it easy to install along the base while working around corners and grade changes. Panels can be cut to follow the contour of the ground for a seamless finish.

Expert tip: GenStone panels can extend slightly below grade if needed, helping create a clean transition where the stone meets mulch, grass, or hardscaping.

GenStone panels deliver the look of natural stone without the weight or complicated installation. Built for exterior durability, they’re low maintenance and backed by a 25-year warranty.
