Dan gave the front of his ranch home a new base with a 4-foot wainscot of GenStone Stratford stacked stone. Before, the tan lap siding ran all the way down to the flower beds. Now the stone wraps the lower wall from the left corner, behind the covered front porch, and over to the garage.

Stratford’s gray, red, and tan stones pick up the dark porch railings and posts and give the warm siding a solid, grounded look. Keeping the stone at one 4-foot height lines it up with the porch railing so the whole front reads as one finished design.

An exterior stone wainscot protects the bottom of your siding from splash and mower debris while adding real curb appeal. GenStone panels install with basic tools and no mortar.

Why GenStone

GenStone makes wainscot projects like Dan’s straightforward with lightweight, durable panels and a 25-year warranty, so you get the look of real stacked stone at a fraction of the weight and cost.

Expert insight

GenStone panels go right over a flat, sound wall like sheathing once the siding is removed at wainscot height. Snap a level line for the first row, cap the top edge with trim or ledger pieces, and touch up cut edges with the color-matched paint kit so the Stratford stays seamless.
